    I *love* Mathematica. It has a wide range of functions, and it can do lots of different sorts of graphics.

    But some of you people may like different computer-algebra software packages, like Maple, Maxima, Sage, etc.

    I would not count Matlab or Octave as computer-algebra software, because they do not directly support symbolic calculations. Those software packages do have convenient functions for handling arrays of data, and that makes them something like computer-algebra software.
