as some of you may be aware i'm using ImageShack to upload pictures, the link to which i'm then use to post pictures on forums like this one

now this morning i received the following email, not sure what to make of it :

"After much consideration and brainstorming we created the new ImageShack to give you the most value. Our goal is to provide you unlimited image sharing options, give you innovative features and an abundance of applications.

We are removing advertisements on the new ImageShack pages, allowing you to upload what you wish, and moving to a subscription based model. For a small amount each month you will enjoy using our innovative and modern product to satisfy your every image hosting and sharing need."

does that mean people who don't pay subscription lose (access to) their images ?
does anyone have any further news on what's happening here ?

So far as I know you won't loose access to your existing images, but you will no longer be able to upload new ones unless you buy a subscription. The entire ImageShack service is now moving to a subscription-based model; there are plenty of free alternatives out there, though.

I still have access to my uploaded images. Are you able to view the image below that I've just captured? If yes, paid subscription isn't a factor for further use of imageshack's services.

Edits: It would appear that I'm currently on a trial basis for the next couple of weeks, and the new FAQ states that uploading "new" images after the the trial period will no longer be available, but it appears that you will retain the images that you have uploaded before the end of the trial period.

yep, that's what i've figured out so far : you will be able to see + use earlier uploaded images but unless you pay the subscription fee you won't be able to upload any new ones after the trial period

haven't investigated any alternatives, but does anyone have any suggestions ?
