Because the OSI model is a conceptual representation, whereas the TCP/IP model, which contains 4 broad layers that can be referenced back to the OSI model as an idea is what actually runs on the Internet. But the OSI model is good for referencing types of routers, switches etc to the layers and provides a breakdown.
Also some things with OSI will be proprietary.
