Currently it is Lawrence Livermore’s Sequoia supercomputer which achieves 16.32 petaflop/s. That is 16,320,000,000,000,000 floating point operations per second.

As is often the case with technical subjects we are presented with an unfortunate choice: an explanation that is accurate but incomprehensible, or comprehensible but wrong.

    meh.

My PC can do over 50 meters per second.
