i have no expertise on this subject, but i heard about this kind of stuff and vaguely remember just the concept. the immortal avatar would be an interactive handheld device or computer program that would behave just like the living person it is modeled after. it would hold their personality, thoughts, desires, memories, their deepest secrets.

and that leads to the personality transfer. the persons consciousness is transferred to the brain of another individual, basically being a psychological copycat. this would probably be reserved for clones.

the purpose of me posting this is, where the heck did i find this? how on earth will it work? and how long till this arrives?

These questions get you nowhere . If you really want something like this for humanity stop asking questions and do it your self.
    1: wat?
2: How will it work? If I knew that I think you would already have this device in your hands by now.
3:I would say consciousnesses transfer or copy in to a clone, would arrive.. 'with all the approximate human environmental proprieties took in to mind' In maybe a thousand years, but thats me, maybe never.

With bravery and recognition that we are harbingers of our destiny and with a paragon of virtue.

theres a video by Ray Kurzweil called The Singularity, he talks about the law of exponential growth, and where technology is leading us, once you understand exponential growth, your "1000"years could easily be 20-40 years from now. Ray Kurzweil is leading the field in nano technology, and in his video he even touches on the subject that this thread was based around.

There are planned outlines for something realistic to be out in around 2045, but this seems a little optimistic to me. And the way they have worked it out seems to be just a best guess but i'll let you decide for yourself:

I think you could eventually duplicate brain pattern with an array of molecular simulation programs, but that would not be a transfer just an artificial copy. For some people it might be something of interest, it has some anthropological value and it might be seen as better than nothing. Recreating a brain is possible with very advanced molecular technology, but thats not going to be developed in the near future its very complex.
