I need a project ot keep me occupied and i am at a lack on what to try to do or learn then do... as some know I am in school for game simulation programming and plan on taking computer engineerting my next BS in order to get my masters in Informations Systems. I am looking for some thing that doenst need a lot fo attention that can be put aside for a few days then picked up with the ease of getting back in to it. I dont have a lot of money so I play around with older systems and parts but basically I am looking to do some thing fun.............

If you're doing game and simulation programming, write a game or simulation

If you haven't yet, try writing a Tetris clone. It shouldn't take more than about 100 hours of work to get something playable. And since you (presumably) know how tetris is supposed to work, you should be able to set it down and pick it back up later pretty easy.

You can pick up Xna and C# for free, which is what I'd recommend using just because it's pretty easy to pick up and start playing around with it. If you want to use C++, you can prolly use SDL. Or if you're in Java the built in graphics capabilities are prolly sufficient.

Well there aren't too many comp sci projects you can do that don't involve programming...

Do an electronics project. Theres plenty of microcontroller based projects you could build or hardware devices interfacing with a computer via parallel/serial/usb. That way you can try something new, and still do some coding.
PHI is one 'H' of alot more interesting than PI!
