I am doing a project on the molecule Glycerin and I need some help.
Could someone please list some advantages/disadvantages to glycerin as well as something peculiar or unique about it?
Thanks, I really appreciate it.

In a former life I worked in the ad industry. Once, when I was at a shoot (I had been involved in scripting the commercial), we had to shoot a sequence in which a little boy, practising karate, hits a lamp and cuts himself, resulting in tears. At rehearsal the little chap was absolutely fine at the whole howl/tears business, but when the camera was rolling he was absolutely dry-eyed. After three hours of frustration trying to get the shot, the director said in an aside to the assistant: "Gliss the f**cker".Originally Posted by richardlam26
They got some glycerine in his eyes and hey presto, floods of tears! Having tries it once myself I can tell you that it is such an irritant that you cannot prevent copious weeping! I have no idea what, if any, long term effects it might have, but, last I heard, it was still very commonlyu used in films/TV/ads for this purpose...
The incident was, of course, a long time ago. I hope these days no director or set of people would be uncaring/brutal enough to do that to a child...
