    i read somewhere that the lanthanide series elements acted so similar that there really is no reason to separate them, if you intended using them.
    why isn't the actinide series reacting in the same way?
    in the actinide series, we have isotopes making all the difference.

    Certain lanthanide elements have special useful properties so these elements are indeed separated and purified. Separation is quite difficult, which is the real reason that mixtures are often used.
