    I have tried this on a small amount and it seems to work.

    Elsewhere I was advised not to use Portland cement for the same purpose as it would react with water .

    Should this ash mixture be fairly stable?

    I can't think of any chemical reaction that would occur between the ash and the resin, but the ash may cause the finished product to be more brittle than the resin alone.

    From the link above it seems the effect I was considering goes the other way and makes it tougher... That's the thing with polymer additives you often don't know what effect they will have until you try it!
