Hi, im a student, and i need to conduct a research on anything chemistry related. i am interested in electrochemistry, so i thought of doing the affects of different currents to the electrolysis of copper sulphate solution. however, my teacher thought that it was too simple and i should find maybe something that i can extract copper sulphate from to get marks on the personal engagement part. do anyone have any ideas on how i can make this experiment 'a lil bit complex'? or do you have any ideas for my chemistry research relating to chemistry? thank you so much

An easy way to make copper sulphate that I've used in class is the reaction of copper oxide with sulphuric acid: Reacting copper(II) oxide with sulfuric acid- Learn Chemistry

You could also vary the concentration of copper sulphate in the solution and see the effect on electrolysis rate.

You could also go the other way and use the copper sulphate to generate a current by making electrochemical cells (using zinc sulphate as the other half cell works well). You could vary the concentration of copper and zinc sulphates and see how it affects the measured cell EMF and bring in the Nernst equation https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nernst_equation

Here's a project for you. Extract silicon from silicon oxide sand (quartz sand), and make a crude solar power cell from it. This showing solar power cells are made from sand.

Yes, I am inclined to concur.
I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around.
