I’m building a hydrogen fuel cell. I need a wiring mesh to conduct the power, which will be up against the Membrane electrode assembly which is coated with platinum. The mesh I’m using is from a kitchen sifter, but I’m not sure what is made of, it is silver metal color. Would anyone know if this would damage the MEA and whether it will react with the platinum?

I know exactly what you are doing. It would be better to find out what is in the mesh before using it, since some alloys may react with the platinum. If you use Rainey nickel it shiould be fine. Nickel by itself should be fine as well.
