Silica gel is also known as amorphous silicon dioxide with the chemical formula SiO2.It is used as a drying agent to absorb the moisture..it is not as harmful..
Rest assured the contents of the packet, silica gel, is basically sand and it is not harmful if swallowed. However, caution should be taken to keep the product out of small children’s reach..
Not necessarily sticky.
In concrete technology, the alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) is a well known reaction between the alkali content of the concrete, as sodium and potassium hydroxides, with reactive, strained quartz to form gels that expand and cause concrete to crack.
This reaction is a problem in various concrete situations, one of which is railway sleepers.
