My wife is a former AP Chemistry Teacher and we started making short science video's with our kids.

We bought some dry ice yesterday and made monster smoke bubbles:

Next week will be how to make sparking apple cider using dry ice.

Let us know what you think! If you have any suggestions - please tell us.

Most interesting. Never thought of using soapy water, having used dry ice many times! Thank you for this! jocular

lol just had awesome ideas for halloween. or even just pranks. Add red food color to the water first. Would that make it look like a giant throbbing bloody brain?

That is just a sample of the kitchen chemistry for kids available on the web. I put together a compendium of chemistry/physics at home on CDs for parents. It was started by my mother growing "trees" on coal chips EONS ago when I was a kid and speaking as a kid that kind of thing is just so absolutely SUPER, congrates.

scIOne - if you have any other cool, neat idea's for home chemistry/ physics projects, let me know. We've created a list of experiments we'd like to make short video's of, but I'm always looking for new ideas.

Obviously most people have seen different ways to make a volcano using baking soda/ vinegar. Here is the first video we made...obviously it needs some polishing, but it was fun:

This one worked really well in terms of the volcano (baking soda/ vinegar). We've tried adding dish soap, and that definitely makes for bubbles and changes the effect, but it is still fun.
