Hi, I'm new here. Have a question I was wondering about, and I've got different answers on different websites.

Does the line spectrum ever change? As in, does the line spectrum of a particular element or compound ever change?

If it's an element the spectral lines should always be the same BUT there are isotopic variations. For compounds you should see the combined lines of it's constituent elements, again with the isotopic warning. The only other thing I am aware of that will give variation, would be if you were looking at distant cosmic objects, the lines could then be shifted either way. If you look up 'Spectroscopy' and Isotopic variation on google you might be able locate more specific information.
