Does anyone know of a absorbant material that doesn't let water through, but does absorb fluids that are lighter/ finer than water?

also what kinds of fluids are lighter than water and suited for such a material, where can I get any?

    Yep!
Or you could say that about any fluid less dense than 1g/cm3 (water density, of course!), like hydrocarbons (d = 0,8g/cm3).
    thanks for everything!
