Thread: Colored Flames

I've heard Color Flame Candles are made from citric acid crystals and metallic/mineral salts. How can this be made to look and behave like wax? Is the cirtic acid modified to be more paraffin-like?

I think what it is is that the mixture is mixed into the wax, so that as it burns down, it burns out the chemicals that burn a different color.
