    Hi everyone!

My name is Joana and I'm currently doing a Master in Marketing in Portugal. I'm undertaking research for my master thesis on the perceptions held by foreigners on the image of Portugal and products produced in the country. The objective of the research is to evaluate the image of Portugal abroad, whether it is positive or negative, and to understand if that image has any influence on the evaluation of products produced in the Portugal. To reach the purpose of the thesis, I kindly ask you to answer a small questionnaire I designed which will only take about 5 minutes to answer and will help me a lot. I'd be very grateful if you could help.

Here is the link to the questionnaire: The perception about the image of Portugal abroad and the Portuguese footwear industry

Thanks in advance for your help

Well I did it. But I strongly object to surveys with questions about specifics (brands in this case) which lack a "don't know" option.

In case you missed it. Strongly.

I'd recommend bearing this in mind for future such exercises. I hesitated to click on the link for precisely this reason - and was disappointed to find the fault I was concerned about. No hesitation in future. I just won't do any surveys from marketing, journalism or economics students.

I did it too, and because of how the survey was worded you got very uninformative answers... For instance: One of the statements that I was supposed to level my agreeance to was:

"I prefer to buy footwear from a well-known brand even if it was produced in a country I have a negative image of."

^ I don't know if you're asking if I prefer to buy well-known brands of footwear even if they're made in a country I know has unfair trade factories, or if you're asking if my opinion about the country itself affects my decision to buy. I felt a lot of the questions were entrapping in this way.

Joana, I am afraid I have to agree with the others. I was comfortable responding to about half of the questions in the first item where you wanted ranking. I hoped I could convey a 'don't know' answer by simply not responding to those I had no view or knowledge on. Of course you have made all these mandatory. As a consequence I did not complete the questions.

I did the survey. On the question about brands, I didn't recognize any of them, so I took a wild guess. For all I know, it wasn't even a real brand of shoes.

Portugal is a country that is completely off the radar screen as far as I am concerned. I guess it used to be a world power, but now we hear nothing about it. I didn't know they made shoes there. I did a google search for portuguese shoes, and found practically nothing. If I were determined to buy a pair of Portuguese shoes, I would fail because I couldn't find a place to order them or a store that carries them.

Well, I did not get very far in the survey. I can point to Portugal on a world map or globe. I have friends that winter in the Algarve, apart from that I know nothing of Portugal. Now you have raised the question of Portugal I will endeavour to do a little research on the country.

I agree with others, we needed a "don't have a clue" (worded better) on some of them, instead of a requirement to answer.
