G'day guys, just a really basic question there, just a little unsure:

The gametes from each parent are said to contain a haplod number of chromosomes, paternal in the sperm and maternal in the ova. My question is, a sperm, for example, containing the paternal n number of chromosomes, the father does not only pass chromosomes recieved from a 'paternal origin', that is he can pass on chromosomes he recieved from his mother, it is random, right? I am just a little bit unsure.

    Thanks in advance!
