I recently came across a website that claims that by wearing magnetic rings on the small fingers can prolong human life ! is this a scam ? there seems to be alot of unproven claims of magnetic flux and chi energy...do take a look and decide for yourself.

I have read only the first sentence and it is more than enough. That is false!

I could give you different arguments but this is the simplest: Why is it not in the news?
Or, if you prefer, a more biological one: If it were true it would mean that cells would stop mitosis (because there would not be apoptosis), and this would imply that your wounds would not be healing, and you'd be dead next time you cut yourself.

    Best regards,

    César

It's some imaginary thing that Chinese(?) believe run through your body, that, when it's imbalanced, you get ill, and to cure your illness, all you have to do is re-balance it. This is their basic explanation for, and the reason they first used, acupunture needles (which, for some unknown reason, work).
Whence comes this logic: no evidence = false?

This article can be helpful to understand both chi and the workings of acupuncture.

stoping mitosis is not the way. but to keep mitosis happening while holding the aging process of cells.

In that case what is aging relative to a cell.

people say it's the length of the telomeres. So according to that theory you need to hold the length of the telomeres. May be using telomerace!!!. you never know!!!!

Activation of telomerase is one of the features of cancer.

If we did not die our DNA would end up being different in different cells because it would have to replicate so many times. this in turn would cause our RNA to make bad proteins and we would die obviusly. or pass on those Genes to our offspring which would (if they didnt suffer fatal or otherwhise genetics disorders) be totaly diffrent from us. Its like evolution in Light speed! if our cells didnt die they would eventually do the same thing during translation into mRNA. which would eventually kill the cells. The only way to not die is to not be alive. Like viruses.

I think its too late for us (or too early), but in a few generations Genetic Engeneering and cell replacement techniques might help a lucky few extend their lifespan by a little or eventually by a lot.

If people in the future think of themselves as actually being their consciousness and memories rather than the raw matter by which these have emerged, the colony of cells and bacterias which make up our bodies, then there may come a time where peoples consciousness and memories are simulated on computers hopefully using androids as vehicles. Such a virtual personality will be a copy of the original but it should be able to be, learn and create (instead of to live) for a very long time.

Physical immortality is not possible. In much much greater than 1035 years all the protons in the universe would eventually decay, and all life along with them.
