    Earlier this day, I noticed these two hanging
    from the spruce...

    I think they're some sort of butterflies, but I am not
    sure... I would be glad, if someone could tell me what they
    are since this is bothering me...

    Oh, and the picture:

    In eastern Finland...
    It has only one pair of wings.

    not too dissimilar from the following picture, which is the lime hawkmoth

    so maybe a finlandian spruce equivalent ?

    yeah, I'd say they're definitely some sort of hawk moth... don't know about exact species though...
