I have heard of certain species of microalgae found in deep ocean habitats that give off flourescent light. In some cases they are living on fish acting like parasites causing them to "glow". Is this true? If so could you tell me the name of the algae species.

There are a number of species of micro organisms that glow. I have heard that some deep ocean fish use them to glow, but I don't know what kind they are. Stick "Luminescent bacteria" into google and see what you get.

Fireflies also give out organ light, which they basically use to attract mates. I was searching online and found out that fireflies actually had something to do with the invention of glow sticks. According to this glow sticks site, it was the search for "cold light", which means emitting light without generating heat, like fireflies, that have led scientists to invent glow sticks in the 60s.

Link removed - the information you describe is no where on that website so I can only conclude that this is spam. Please note that continued posting of this nature may put you at risk of being banned.

The algae concentrations apparently vary. Like a red tide bloom. One night I was camping by the ocean, could almost write my glowing name just peeing on the surface.
