# Thread: How make stock solution ?

1. Hi everyone.

I try to make stock solution but it came to me a little difficult. I want to make MS media without boron. But I have to make stock solution. How can I make stock solution ?

2.

3. You haven't given enough information.

What concentration do you want your solution to be? What concentration (or solid) are you starting with?

You might find this page useful: https://www.techknow.org.uk/wiki/ind...king_solutions

4. I want to make 2,4-D solution . How can I solve to 2,4-D ? It is a liquid. I need 1400 mikroliter 2,4-D.

5. Do you mean 1400 micromolar concentration?

If so, first you need to work out the mass of 2,4D needed. To do this you multiply the concentration by the molecular mass:

1400 X 10-6 x 221.04
= 0.309 g/L.

Then you divide this mass by the density of 2,4D to give the volume of 2,4D:

0.309/1.42 = 0.21 ml.

So to make a 1400 micromolar solution you need to use 0.21 ml of 2,4D and make it up to 1 L with water.

6. I'm sorry I am new in this cases

Actually, I want to make solution for 0,2 mg at 200ml distile water

7. OK using the density (1.42 g/cm) then 0.2 mg is equivalent to a volume of 0.00014 ml. Dissolve this amount in 200 ml of distilled water.
