    video

In an aquarium they had put a large octopus in a large tank with large fish and sharks, they though the octopus camouflage and strengh would protect it from being eaten by the sharks, but they found that (small) sharks were being eaten somehow, so they filmed and you see a shark swiming around and when it gets close to the camouflaged octopus (which it should detect with its electrical sensors i think) the octopus grabs the shark with its death gripping succion cup tentacles pulling it and entagling the shark which looks as helpless as a tied sausage So they learned that it was not a good idea not because the shark would eat the octopus but because the giant octopus was eating the small sharks, which they did not anticipate.

A shark senses by pure smell I think. Nothing more, as it's eyesight is worse than a 190 year old grandma with cataracts.

sharks can detect electrical impulses. they do this with things called Ampullae of Lorenzini.

I would be very surprised if most sharks had a very bad eyesight if someone find a link descibing very bad eyesight in many types of shark let me know.

I think they have an array of senses including as mentioned by Chemboy the ability to perceive electrical impulses(muscular activity)

Since we use eyesight as our main sense we perceive the octopus' incredible camouflage, but I wonder if they are not also camouflaged from the perspective of other senses (muffled electrical impulses, neutral smell, etc)

I was very surprised by this, my picture quality was bad so i didn't see how big the shark was till the man in the back ground said. I thought i had just saw a giant octopus kill a 6 feet shark!
