    Hello
Does anyone know how to make a virus as I am very interested in them on how they work and created.
    Many thanks

There are assorted theories on how viruses evolved. One theory is that they are bacteria that evolved as parasites, and discarded all the functions that could be supported by a host, leaving a very basic particle behind.

Have a search for information on Eckard Wimmer's work in synthetically reproducing the poliovirus. A more detailed account on his 2002 break-through is here. :-))

More on synthetic genomics and more recent breakthroughs with synthetic bacterium here. We humans are a clever mob.

So really we don't know where they came from! And how do i create a virus?

Well, what I think is that viruses could have been the most primitive life that had later evolved as parasites. As we know, they cannot really be classified as living organisms just because they do not perform all the vital functions but reproduction. What I think is that as these were the primitive life, they did not develop enough to perform these functions and who are we to say that they are living or non-living?

How viruses were created is another thing. They might have come to Earth from a meteorite which is a theory that is being studied. Or they might have been a bunch of chemicals that met in the right time at the right place and in the right state such that viruses were formed and life had been created.
These are just what I think that happened :P

One thing we can state, is that the creation of viruses was a matter of biochemistry.
Although the chemical compounds that were necessary for molecular evolution towards life might have come from meteorites and comets (the Panspermia hypothesis), it is proposed that viruses are the result of RNA cells, rather than being the cause of it (cf. Is virus the primitive form of life in the ancient world?). Yet, it is still educated guesswork.
