    Yeah, that's my question. Would the adrenal glands produce more testosterone if a person is stressed out? Also, how do cortisol and testosterone react with each other? If the body is producing a lot of coristol, would it affect testosterone levels in anyway? Somewhere I read that cortisol inhibits testosterone.

    Maybe. Maybe not.

    What's more important is the often overlooked link between thyroid function and testosterone. Just because underactive thyroid is more common in women, it doesn't mean that men don't have it. Having a low testosterone level is unusual in itself and all likely underlying conditions should be tested for.

    If a person is "stressed out", that might be better medically described as fatigued and/ or depressed - both of which are common symptoms of hypothyroidism.

    Thyroid hormones regulate practically everything - including all the sex-specific hormones, not just oestrogen.
