Calcium Ions (Ca2+)? or Sodium ions? or both?
Its not calcium.Sodium? There are 2 nerves per muscle for ,brain down spine for motor. And 2 nerves for muscle sensory from the muscle to spine and from spine to brain.Look up action potential videos on youtube. Its a three part chemical process between connections. The longest nerve, and its a single cell, goes from the spine down the leg and to the foot.Another thing is there are a lot of nerves that go to each muscle not just one. They are in bundles.
Wiki says its sodium and potassium gated ion channels
cool, I will have a look at the vid. thanks
The ions involved in the nerve cell's action potential are sodium and potassium. Calcium is involved in the muscle cell's contraction (specifically the sarcomere, the contractile unit of muscle cells).
