Thread: Why can't creationists/anti-evolutionists just admit they've lost?

I've seen somebody post a question recently in the biology forum asking why we don't have half-humans-half-apes around, and kept arguing with us all. I did not join the discussion, but man, it was tempting. There is just as much reasonable doubt to evolution as their is to the world being round. There are four times more historians that deny the holocaust than there are scientists who do not accept evolution. There are more scientists with the name "Steve" who publically support evolution than any scientist with any name who publically denies it. There are virtually no scientists in relevant fields who agree with these idiots. I don't understand, creationism has no place in the 21st century. Why can't they just accept evolution and move on? Why do they have to deny scientific facts while pretending to be scientific and that we're the ones who deny scientific facts? You don't even have to give up Christianity to accept evolution, it's just... ridiculous. The anti-evolutionist threesome on YouTube (evoTARDSareINSANE, buffboynick, and DisprovingEvolution) aggravate me to no end with their snot-mouth comments. How you do deal with them?

I ignore them (since any debate with creationists will lead to nowhere), unless they shove their beliefs in the throats of other people.

Because an innate part of fundamentalism is an inability to recognise facts.

I think there are some people who cannot lead a life without rules.....rules and rituals are comforting. The idea that life may be random and there just isn't a purpose is psychologically unpleasant to a lot of people and so offering all the answers and a certain future (even in death) is very tempting.

There is an old Jesuit saying along the lines of "give me the child until he is 7 and I will give you the man" which I think is very apt as well as being quite scary.

There is so much wrong information out there about what evolution actually is and what it explains. The basis of it should be taught in school.

I really don't get people who refuse to acknowledge scientific truths. Personally, I believe they should be forced to do without all the benefits that modern science has bought them like cars, televisions, houses, electricity, modern medicine, computers, planes etc.

Because they have an abundance of creationist websites that provide "facts" and "evidence" to support their claims and beliefs. I was a theist for a good 2-3 years longer than I would have been because I desperately searched for evidence to salvage my beliefs.

1.) Evangelicals (one of the largest minorities in the United States) falsely equate a belief in Evolution with Atheism (not that there is anything wrong with being an Atheist but in their minds it is the epitome of evil)

2.) In a democracy, people are allowed the freedom to think for themselves...sometimes this backfires if the masses are uneducated...
