There is a lot of literature on modelling cell motility. I want to know if cell motility models (such as those incorporating protrusions and polarization), metazoan cell models in particular, have been used to aid in automated tracking of live cells. In specific, has anyone used predictions from internal cell models to guide the tracking algorithms?

For the type of idea I'm talking about, take tracking humans in video, for example. There are models that figure out what direction the person is moving and use this to make a better decision as to where the person will be in the next frame.

When you google "cell tracking algorithm microscopy" or "predictive cell tracking algorithm microscopy" do you not see anything useful? Or are those search results not addressing the specifics of your question?

    ps

I don't know anything about this topic.

There's plenty of stuff on cell fate, but that's not what I'm interested in. I'm interested in tracking cells and also cell boundaries over time.

I saw plenty of results about tracking cell motion, mostly examples involving florescent markers or nano-particle labels. Which is why I asked why those results were not useful to you.

As I said, not my field, so I can't help much beyond exercising some google-fu.

Perhaps it's my fault, but I could not find any references (at least in the first few pages of results) that combined cell motility models (with emphasis on the boundary) with tracking algorithms.
