  1. #1 deviation from Hardy Weinberg Equilibrium

    I have a set of 7
SNPs in 411 individuals. 1 or 2 of these SNPs are not in HWE. I am a bit of a newby when it comes to population genetics and I had a hypothesis regarding the deviation of HWE which I can not find in the literature (I know there are a lot of common reasons for deviation from HWE).
However, I investigate a type of cancer that is thought to have a combined etiology with infertility. Both my control group and my case group (cancer) are infertile. Could it be that
SNPs related to the common pathway leading to cancer and infertility are in HWE because we selected only infertile men (on purpose of course).
    Thanks for your view.
    Best, Martin
