    Are there any macromolecules other than nucleic acids, carbs, lipids, proteins? (with regard to living organisms that is). Any minor thing I perhaps have never heard of? I assume the answer is no.

    Also, how do you think carbs/saccharides/sugars are best defined (I know what I would say but not 100% on it so just wanted to hear your thoughts in case there are insights I've never come across with regard to conception of these structures.

    You mentioned the four accepted biopolymers. There are other macromolecules, but not defined by biochemistry.

    I would define macromolecules simply as molecules formed through subunit polymerization.

    Cheers. For carbs specifically I would say: polyols of ketones or aldehydes, most often in cyclised form physiologically. Would you/anyone modify that or note exceptions to it?
