I've come a long way in the last two years since my time as a regular on this Forum. I'm now a Senior Anthropology Major/Bio Minor.

    Classes I've taken recently:

    Intro to Anthro
    Vertebrate Zoology
    Mammalogy
    Biological Anthropology
    Primatology
    Ornithology
    Applied Anthropology
History of the South to 1865
    The Incas and Their Ancestors
    African Civilization
    Principles of Biology II
    Fundamentals of Anthropological Theory

I only need four more classes to graduate but I think I'll stay an extra semester to bring up my gpa.

    Classes I hope to take:

    Animal Physiology
    Genetics
    Anthropological Genetics
    Principles of Chemistry I
    Principles of Chemistry II

I know my Anthro degree will only get me so far, so I'm trying to take as many higher level Bio classes as I can. I also know that, as a scientist, I should at least know basic chemistry. Even as an Anthropologist, I'd be potentially studying scent marking and pheromones, which could involve chemical analysis..and genetics would help with population genetics in humans and other primates. I'll keep you guys updated on what I'm doing.

Congratulations Gottspy on becoming an Anthropology major/Bio minor, I was wondering how you were progressing. Please keep us posted and please let us know when you become a confirmed bachelor, as it were :-) All the best, Tri

    General Archaeology

    Anthropological Genetics

I'd like to congratulate on finally having settled on something that appears to be a consistent direction. I believe you used to vacillate a bit.

Congrats Gottspieler! I am glad you have come this far. Looked like you were going through some stuff, but I guess everyone does that. Good luck and we would love you to come and share your knowledge in our new Anthro section.

Thanks. I just need to make sure I get a B in the next Bio class I take and my Minor will be fulfilled and 3-4 more Anthro classes, and I'm out! I'm grateful to my Professors, many of whom were formerly from Duke and Stanford! Also, Kathy Reichs (the creator of Bones) is the one who started the program here at UNC Charlotte. As a result, unlike the two private schools I attended in the past, many more courses in Physical and Cultural Anthropology are offered.

Some of the Physical Anthro courses offered include:

Topics in Anthropology: Primates in Peril

    Primate Behavioral Ecology

    Neanderthals and Us

    Human Evolution

    Anthropological Genetics

    Race and Anthropology

Forensic Anthropology (offered only from time to time..which is ironic since Dr. Reichs is a Forensic Anthropologist)

Anyway, anyone who desires an Anthro degree should attend UNCC. Great Program.

Kind of pissed that I couldn't get permission to take Animal Physiology. It requires 1.5 years of Chem. Oh well.

Decided to give Chem a final try (general). I have nothing to lose as it is not a required class and I can drop it if need be...lol...I'll try my best to get an A or B on the first test but if not, it's ok...

    So.. what about gottspieler's degree?
Growing up, i marveled at star-trek's science, and ignored the perfect society. Now, i try to ignore their science, and marvel at the society.

Imagine, being able to create matter out of thin air, and not coming up with using drones for boarding hostile ships. Or using drones to defend your own ship. Heck, using drones to block energy attacks, counterattack or for surveillance. Unless, of course, they are nano-machines in your blood, which is a billion times more complex..
