    Sawfish use their long, toothed “noses” or rostra to both sense andstrike their prey, unlike other jawed fish with elongated snouts thattypically have only a single purpose, according to new research byAustralian and American scientists.

    The man-made "herring rake" is almost identical in size and form, but has teeth on one edge only. When fishing this way I've found fish dodge decisive strokes, but get caught by a quick series of strokes. Time to improve the tool.
