Does anyone know if there are species of fresh water fish that are the equivalent of goats, meaning that will survive by eating a wide range of vegetation and organic matter? (I have the impression that fish are carnivorous eating other fish and invertebrates)

What types of creatures in lakes eat algae, aquatic weeds and leaves falling from nearby trees?
