    Hello,

    I hope someone would help me find out what I'm doing wrong calculating the inbreeding coefficient for this dog. Here is a link to the pedigree:

    http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/germ...er/464941.html

    Arko von Lenzfried is linebreed on:

    * 5 - 5............................................. in SGR VA Roland von Starkenburg
    * 3 - 4............................................. in V Nores von der Kriminalpolizei
    * 5,5 - 5,5......................................... in SIEGER 1908 Luchs vom Kalsmunt Wetzlar
    * 4 - 5............................................. in V Horst von Boll
    * 4 - 5............................................. in V Gisa von der Kriminalpolizei
    * 5,4 - 5........................................... in VA (NL) Jung Tell von der Kriminalpolizei
    * 3 - 4............................................. in Cora vom Hörstein
    * 2 - 3............................................. in Junker von Nassau
    * 5 - 5,5........................................... in Grete vom Nahetal
    * 4 - 4,5,4......................................... in Adalo Edelweiss
    * 4 - 5............................................. in Helma Jägerslust
    * 5 - 5............................................. in Loni Hündin (svalt 990381 )
    * 4 - 4,5,5......................................... in Flora von der Heinrichsburg
    * 3 - 3............................................. in Faust Rheingold

    When I calculated the COI for this dog, I got 12.3046875%. I'm using a web based COI calculator and a software to compare my result to them. The web based calculator is giving me 11.71875% while the software is giving me 11.81640625%. I doubled checked everything and still get the same results. I only inputted the dogs in the first five generations.

    Your help will be much appreciated,
    Mike

    Do you know if each method is using the same formula and the same number of generations? The last two numbers (11.71875% and 11.81640625%) are almost identical (99+%) and could even be just the result of rounding.

    Thank you for taking the time to reply!

    They won't share the method they use. But, shouldn't we all get the same result despite the method? Otherwise, who would be right?

    I have only inputted the dogs in the first five generations in the two calculators and used the first five generations in my own calculation.
