This is a forum to discuss who you think will win the Nobel Prize in 2010 in Physiology or Medicine. I've got some ideas, but I want to get unbiased opinions!

how about Barack Obama ? he's already got the peace nobel prize, so that would make a nice set on the mantlepiece

It is nigh impossible to predict such a thing. And I'm not entirely sure why anyone would want to...
Quick everyone needs to go look up what major discoveries in medicine and physiology were made around 30 years ago by still living scientist!
I take a stab at it every year to brush up on the current status of research in the area. I think it's a great way to learn about what people think is the most significant or impactful research going on. Thomson Reuters predicts the winners every year and has a pretty good track record considering the secrecy surrounding the process:Originally Posted by tridimity

I got hooked a couple years ago after hearing about Thomson Reuter's process and can't help myself to try again year after year!
Are there any nominations yet?
Here is the process for nomination and selection:Originally Posted by KALSTER

Those who are nominated and do not win are never released to the public. The public is only told who the winners are during the formal announcement in October. So to answer your question, yes, there are nominations, but the public does not know who is nominated.
Here's an update on the debate:

Anyone agree? disagree? Do you think someone was left of the physiology/medicine list?
I think it is going to be someone from cancer or stem cell research
