    what are you doing tomorrow?
Nothing. School is out for the summer!

The only thing for me to do now is to wait for grades to post. If they are good I will celebrate and then call my old place of work and tell them I'm coming in to work over the summer in order to save money for next semester. If they are bad, I will cry myself a river, drown in my tears and give up...that or kill myself.

Well and/or kill myself. I guess I could do both.

    Ok..here goes:

    Ornithology= D

    Ornithology Lab= C

    S. Am. Prehistory= B

    Applied Anthro= B

So I made my Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements (I think, don't want to be too confident and jinx it..lol). However, I'm disappointed with the D in ornithology. My grades were 77, 71, and 82 before the final. This was the professor's last semester teaching at my school and he seemed like a laid back kind of guy so I thought he'd take it easy on us at the very end...nope..at least I will know to study harder when I take Mammalogy next semester...my Bio minor gpa needs a boost (B, C, D,B)!

Well shit. I was placed on Academic Suspension. The financial aid website was misleading...it states that to meet satisfactory academic progress provisions a student with under 60 credit hours (at the school..not transfer credits) must maintain a 1.8 gpa minimum. However, there is another (very difficult to find) section of the website claiming that you need to meet other provisions..including a 2.0 cumulative gpa. I was celebrating all week b/c I thought I made the cut. Well I didn't. All because I failed Chem I last semester. It's back to community college for a few semesters. Hopefully I can get into Chem I and Chem II there and maybe Stats. I was considering doing this post-undergrad anyway. Maybe it was meant to be. All I was able to get into this Fall was Intro to Zoology and Intermediate Algebra. Not too bad. I need to work on my math more than anything.

Wrote my appeal letter today. Cited severe anxiety/depression and an unruly rommate as reasons for my low gpa. I mentioned that my Anthropology gpa (my gpa in my Major) is a 3.0, that my gpa was low only due to one Chem class and that my grades would improve every semester. I also stated that I would retake Chemistry if reinstated and speak with my doctor about increasing the dosage of my antidepressant medication. Wish me luck. I'll need it. I hear that perhaps 2 out of 10 appeals succeed.

I get a grade replacement for Chem I. That means a fresh start. I will certainly pass this time. My schedule will be (assuming I can afford books this semester..lol):

    Mammalogy (4)
    Chem I (4)
    Ecological Anthro (3)
    Gen Archaeology (3)

    14 hrs total

What books do you need? Check online, many science you books you can download for free. My friends friends friend download all his books online.
The need for an intelligible world begins with the fearfulness of pre-philosophical, pre-literate societies facing an unpredictable world of change and trying to make sense of it.

Already know that I don't need one of them. I bought an older edition for $8 online and the teacher uses mostly notes from class. For Chem, however, I need to buy a "Clicker device" (an electronic thing to type answers into) and a Lab book. I already have the text from last semester. For my anthro classes the books will be relatively inexpensive.

I'm supposed to get $9,500 per semester in financial aid each semester if things work out! :P This will give me money for food and a new home gym. Also I will save for classes I may have to pay for without financial aid (may have a class or two at the end of my BA I need to pay out of pocket..likely pre-calc..the class I'm putting off to the very end..lol) and pay off part of my private loan which is roughly $12,000...

Ok..changed my mind again..going to put Chem off for a bit so I don't risk lowering my gpa. Taking Ancient Roman history instead. Now THAT is a hard class to turn down..lol... Also taking German, as I may live in Germany one day to work for the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (or Anthropologie, as the Germans say).

    So, new schedule:

    Mammalogy

    Adavanced German Grammar/Comp/Conversation I

    General Archaeology

    Topics in History: Ancient Rome

    A total of 13 hours

    It'll be fun! :-D :-D :-D

So, another new schedule (likely my final choice):

    Mammalogy

    Adavanced German Grammar/Comp/Conversation I

    Foundations of Anthropological Theory

    Topics in History: Ancient Rome
