In two different documentaries about two different kinds of monkeys, David Attenborough (one of my heroes!) talks about how monkeys sometimes go to war with other families or bands of monkeys of the same species. In both descriptions, he says that the monkeys will use this opportunity to "settle old scores". Does anyone know whether he's talking about settling old scores with monkeys in the other band, or being really sneaky and using warfare as an opportunity to settle a score with someone in your own family/band?

Here is the one I'm watching at the moment, in case it matters.
