I have stumbled across two highly interesting articles concerning this manner. One is the documentation of scientists who are trying to find the genetic code that produces THC and other cannabinoids to create a hemp strand which does not contain THC. If you ask me, these guys definitely are trying to find the genome to plant it into other plants and stuff, which happens to be something I would love to do...

this second article, isn't an article, it's title is: The gene controlling marijuana psychoactivity: molecular cloning and heterologous expression of Delta1-tetrahydrocannabinolic acid synthase from Cannabis sativa L.

DNA sequnecer, PCR, finish? This sounds too good to be true, someone please tell me there is a catch somewhere that I've overseen.

What a waste of time and money. Just legalize it. Problem solved.

It would not change anything, THC is illegal, not the plant itself.

I am pretty much against legalization of the drug and plant. truth is that both the plant and the substance THC and all cannabinoids (CBD) are illegal. The purpose of modifying a plant to produce THC and CBD's is to create totally new strains of THC containing plants.
