    hey guys,

    what do one mean when they use the term "genetic predisposition"?

    It regards the likelihood of something happening based on one's DNA and genetic makeup.


    For example:

    Based on my genetics, I might have a predisposition towards diabetes... I'm more likely to get it than the average population.

    Based on my genetics, I might have a predisposition towards being over-weight... I'm more likely to get fat than the average member of the population.

    Based on my genetics, I may have a predisposition towards bad eyesight... I'm more likely to need glasses than the average member of the population.


    In short, genetic predisposition means that we are statistically more likely to experience something based on our genetics... Our genetics "pre-dispose" us to those things.
