Are there only two energy conversions that are important for animals and plants?
radiation energy and what radiation energy creates: photosynthesis.

are these two all the energy animals and plants need?

    Hello ...

I am not sure what your getting at exactly.

Though in terms of basic energy flow there is photosynthesis that converts light energy ( solar energy ) into chemical energy stored in the bonds of carbohydrates and respiration that converts carbohydrate to ATP or andenosine tri phosphate. ATP is a form of energy used in plants and animals. A kind of "biological fuel".

There are other kinds of energy capture and conversions these are the basic transformations in an energy flow chart at an ecological scale.
