    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good non-commercial resource for gathering information about fluorescent organelle labels for microscopy?

I want to start compiling an easy-to-use resource for our microscope users but don't want it biased to a particular company.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Check out Current Protocols in Cell Biology. They have all kinds of helpful hints on microscopy. I think the link below might give you exactly what you are looking for:

    http://mrw.interscience.wiley.com/em...p/current/html

    This is the "organelle atlas."

Hello. When you say 'labels' do you mean a tag or conjugate that binds to specific organelles ? We use fluorescence microscopy to tag and quantitate specific bacterial cells, using fluorescein as the dye, and a simple monoclonal antibody to bind them.

I'd be interested to know how individual organelles would be differentiated by such a system (dye-tag).

Wouldn't you just use a different fluorochrome for each monoclonal antibody? That's what we do for flow cytometry anyway...
