    Hi all,
How would I do a cross of alleles on an autosomal chromosome (a wing type, body type, etc) with alleles on the sex chromosome (eye color) for a male and a female?

Say the female parent has short wings with white eyes and the male parent has long wings and red eyes

I'm having trouble coming up with allele combinations for this... confused because sex linked alleles will be in the form of something like: XRXR (R being superscripted)....but autosomal wing characteristics you see the normal LL Ll, ll, etc alleles.

So just not sure how to do this can i get some help?
    Thanks!

I'm assuming that the autosomal trait is supposed to have Mendelian inheritance?

Either way, you still make a punnet square, just make sure that you have every possible combination of gametes each parent can make on the sides. Say for example the mother is Ll XrX. All the possible gametes she can make are: LXr, lXr, LX, lX. If the father is LL XrY, all the possible gametes he can make are: LXr, LXr, LY, LY. (So really only two possible gametes, but he will make about twice as much of each.)

Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

Hi thanks for the response....yes it deals with Mendel. What you said makes sense...I wasn't sure if that was the way to go. I was just going to use RR, Rr, rr for red eyes, but I needed to tell males from females so that wouldn't work (plus of course eye color is x linked). Take care
