I was wondering, this simulation uses some concepts that apply to population dynamics and evolution (if there are less than three squares touching the squares die of underpopulation, if there are more than three is dies of overpopulation, so only things of exactly three survive), and it shows behavior similar to this, but also behavior that seems unique to individual life forms, do you think population dynamics could be applied to a single organism?
