    Hi there,

i'm writing a screenplay which involves a scene where my protagonist discovers the scientific hub of man who's dabbling in human reproductive cloning.

I've not really researched this as much as I should have by now, so i'm struggling in trying to imagine what this room would look like.

I know there would be a unit consisting of some kind of incubator, a microscope, a uv light, petri dishes, utensils of some nature, and a sterile hood.

can anyone help me build an image of what this room could look like? It doesn't need to be 100% scientifically accurate - the scene is very brief and the emphasis is not on the cloning itself.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    cheers, jack

There should be a big jar containing a human brain in formaldehyde, or ethanol.

There should a computerscreen that shows the facebook frontpage.

Anyway..all lab benches are the same. Equipment is spread around in different rooms because it is not good to do all experiments in the same room.

Is this person growing full size adult humans? Because (I imagine) that would require a lot more room and equipment than if he's just putting together fetuses to later be implanted in women's wombs.
Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

fetuses, i think. Although, there are scenes in which the clones are present with their respective 'parent hosts', and i've had to obviously consider that those parent hosts might be unrecognizable as such because they would obviously be a lot older - hence some of the intended effect is lost.

Also, isn't full grown human cloning a scientific impossibility? I don't want to verge into the supernatural, rather a sort of hypothetical near future.

so, if it was fetus's, then i'm guessing a 'lab' could actually look quite modest?

    cheers!

The world is full of cloned humans: identical twins.

    Therefore it is scientifically possible.

You may have meant if it is possible for scientists to clone humans, grow them in some in vitro vat, and accelerate their growth.

Well, 2/3 of these steps are partially impossible or totally impossible for practical reasons. Then there is the impossibility because of ethical reasons.

Humans are grown in vitro all the time btw. Just not for a very long time.
