If you don't read the whole artcile, don't bother posting.

This is a nice example of compassion, for once, from me. Despite this story probably getting whored to death by the media, and the cool last name of that one chick "Pharaoh", you should all be saddened by this. There are THOUSANDS of animals in our own back yards RIGHT NOW, rannging from lizards (especially) to cats, even tigers and bears (I hate texas) that are living as this chimp lived. This is a great example of what we all SHOULD and CAN do to help animals, especially when you consider many pets leaving pet stores should be considered "rescues" and that you can make a difference.

This truely is the death of an Icon, similar to Harriett the Tortoise. If you disagree you are wrong.

P.S. Please don't mix up this compassion for the suffering of individuals at the hands of humanity with my lack of compassion for those species that are going to go extinct because of humanity. One is at a species level, and very impersonal; the other is at an individual level and very personal.

Buying animals from a pet shop isnt rescueing them. Its supporting the place. Buying from a very poor run down bad quality one could be counted as saving them. I just hope the animal came from a humane establishment. And yes humans tend to treat animals badly for there own ammusment and gain. But maybe we should stop looking at what we do to animals and what we do to each other?

I appoligize for mistakes in grammar, puncuation, and spelling. Cuz i suck at that stuff.

While we're on the note of old animals dying...is Lonesome George still kicking?

I sense we reconciled it the same way, which is going out of favour. Cattle country, eh?

I'm concerned about the bonobos. We're teaching them to make tools and light fires... and addicting them to Pacman believe it or not. Eventually we'll have to face the implications, and I doubt we'll get it right for the right reasons. Maybe better we had wiped them out as a species while nobody was looking.
