We are looking for a moderator of this sub forum. Nominees should be of good standing on the forum with at least 200 meaningful posts relevant to this sub forum.

We are not looking for someone to clarify who is right or wrong on any topic, we are looking for someone who will uphold the basic forum guidelines.

Those guidelines can be found here

You are not allowed to nominate yourself or nominate a member if you yourself have less then 100 posts.

The first person to reach 5 unique nominations will be considered for the job. This will not be an automatic win for the nominee in all cases. Multiple nominees will be looked at and one chosen by myself or through further debate.

Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name

Paralith, or Robbie (off the top of my head).

Though I seem to remember Paralith saying at one time she didn't want to be a mod.

Also, Biologista even though he is new.

I'd suggest Paralith also. If she's not up for it, then perhaps i_feel_tiredsleepy or marnixR would be suitable?

I'll third Paralith wholeheartedly. Hope you'll take the job!

All the other people mentioned already has also proved their competence as far as knowledge is concerned (Robbie, i_feel_tiredsleepy, TheBiologista, marnixR), as well as spuriousmonkey. Paralith has the edge though as far as fairness and such are concerned (not that the other guys are necessarily bad either).

Edit: Free Radical would also not be a bad choice.

Thanks very much for the nominations, guys. My previous concerns about being a moderator were about time - but now that I've settled into grad school I've found that won't be too much of an issue.

I would be happy to moderate this subforum, but would the administration consider two moderators? I also think Biologista would do very well - he has on many occasions displayed a calm and fair attitude, is very thorough in his method of response, and his greater familiarity with molecular/medical research complements the gaps in my knowledge in those areas.
Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

Thanks! Of course I'd be delighted to pitch in, but if it's a case of us having only one mod I'd say Paralith is the one to go for.

Keep in mind your duties will only be to this one Biology section. Not quite as bad as the entire forum.
Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name

Woot! Beer and nachos at my place for the celebration party! I hear Kalster is bringing the strippers and Marnix is bringing the alcohol...

    Err... wrong type of party?
    Well then, nevermind!

    I'll just congratulate Paralith then.

She seems to be more the candles and cheese type, at least the cheese, if the avatar is any indication.

    Congratulations paralith.

Gruyere is my preference, though any candles at dinner must be unscented. Scented candles can ruin your palate, you know! Thanks guys.

It's like that, except without the money or the prestige.

Fortunately, I think I'm masochistic enough to handle it. (And I've had worse jobs than this!)

    Thanks again everyone.
