    Ive read that a mocking bird can copy car alarms and ringtones. and parrots can learn words.
    SO birds can learn.
    If only we could gather comprihendible information for the birds and organize it in a way they could understand, like our books, and we gradually start breeding a bird that can learn and in mabey 1000 years or so there could be intelligent birds

    they can learn they just need the information to learn and eventually gain the intelligence to form thought and self awareness

    Could this work?

    I imagine we'd require hundreds of thousands of years of selective breeding to get human-like intelligence. That said, some species of bird have limited self-awareness and problem solving skills. Magpies are able to recognise themselves in a mirror (most animal species assume a mirror image is another member of their species) whereas some crow species show problem solving that rivals higher non-human primates.
