Thread: Question about something called toonophilia

For a while now; I have been searching various places one web. However, nothing caught my attention more than something known as; toonophilia.

Toonophilia is a type of 'philia' where the person (male or female) is sexually attracted to or in love with a cartoon character such as Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse or any other fictional character in cartoon form.

As a curious college student, I would like it if anyone could give an explanation on the effects of toonophilia, as in,

What causes toonophilia?

What are its effects?

What impact does toonophilia have on a person's life?

What relations does it have with mental disorders?

Anything that regards these questions does not have to be complete; does not need to accurate, and can be answered with the best of knowledge.

I guess you can put the word "philia" behind just about anything, humans are strange creatures.

It's probably learned behaviour: if you always watched cartoons before having erotic experiences, then you'll probably start associating those things with eachother. Few if any people in isolated tribes would get aroused from an empty panty hose or a high-heeled shoe (or fill in some male attribute for the ladies), it doesn't have any meaning to them. But plenty of 'westerners' can get aroused from those objects alone.

Pavlov's dog got appetite from hearing the ring of a bell, isn't that almost the same behaviour?

In case your not up on your internet porn, let me reveal something to you. People are sexually aroused by everything. I'm not speaking about people in general. I'm just saying, to analyze all the causes to twisted fetishes is just a waist of time and effort. I would be curious as to what causes people to like bondage though. I'd assume too much structure for some people might do it.

I found myself quite liking Aladdin from the Aladdin cartoon when I was about 24.

If you think about it this way it may make some sense.

Aladdin - as a character was portraying a human adult male who was meant to be charming, funny and even sexy.

In my head I imagined the real human equivalent of him, and it was that human version which I liked, not the real cartoon.

Here's the bad news:

Women DO THIS ALL THE TIME with real men!

They look at the guy, then imagine how they'd like him to be and then they fall in love with their super improved version of him. This is why they then find themselves disatisfied with the real man as he is and seek to change him.

Men also do this

They see Jessica Rabbit and imagine the real human version with enormous breasts, curvy figure (they lose the giant ears..does she have those?? anyway.........) great hair.

It is no accident that teen comics feature big breasted ladies and there is even a form of comic book porn. The images aren't photographically human but they are humanish and they allow the imagination to turn them into 'humans'.

As for the weirdos who fancy things like sonic headgehog, well they must be the types that value personality over looks.

I'd love a girl like Lara Croft. Is that the same thing? Even if it means risking my life on a daily basis? .

nowadays, people experienced a lot of problem in a society or the people around them. To divert this situation, people tend to find something more on fantasy matter, something they view as perfect for them.
