    Hi,

I've developed a technique which allows you to reliably hallucinate demonic and mythical beings without drugs. It's pretty interesting and I have described it in a youtube video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV73w9HOnag

The video is a bit corny but the results are interesting, my friends have found it very spooky.

Let me know if it works for you -I'm curious as to what people think.

I regularly have demonic hallucinations, being a sufferer of isolated sleep paralysis. I've come across this 'technique' in my own experiences. What are you hoping to achieve from this?

I think that this is a combination of several different factors that allow the effect to be so extreme:

    1. The optical illusion caused by fading visual input:
Check this out it is also cool

    2. With the lack of visual input the facial processing components of the brain override perception allowing the distortion of facial features in the image

    3. Pulling an evil face causes the facial perception distortion to view a demonic face - Theoretically enhanced by the fear centre of the brain (the Amygdala).

    4. The fact you are looking at a reflection of yourself means that you are aware of the consciousness of the reflection in the same way that you are aware of your own consciousness. You are also aware that your own face is not demonic so you experience a deep sense of evil 'otherness' which has a conscious link to you.

I wanted to see what people thought about this to see if they really experienced it to it's full depth which is much more than just an optical illusion.

I think it's probably more the expectation of seeing a demonic face that causes us to see this, than pulling an evil face. You should try it with people who report alien abductions: suggest it's a communicator not a mirror, and i expect they'll see aliens.

Yes I think it is definitely driven by expectations. I'm yet to get it to work with a positive/divine face though. I think there is an evolutionary benefit to be open minded to scary things.
