A better question would be is it worth treating OCD. If I didn't count, measure and order everything compulsively, I honestly think I'd have no idea what I was doing any of the time, and usually where I am either.

Extensive private therapy is probably the most effective method.

The source of the disorder needs to be uncovered. It can be both psychological and biological. This could take months or years with a qualified psychologist, but this is preferable to medication.

Group therapy is also beneficial, and any activity or stimuli that reduces anxiety is helpful.

I'm not well versed in neuropharmacology, but cannabis is good for treating compulsive and obsessive tendencies. I'm not sure about this specific disorder and would like to see some research on the subject.

SSRIs are often prescribed because serotonin abnormalities are common amongst people with OCD. However, medication should always be a last resort.
